Extracto de George McIsaac
George is a mining engineer and a mineral economist, with more than 25 years experience in industry, research and development, consulting, and teaching. He specializes in the economics of the mine, combining design, planning, costing, and cash flow estimation, for the purpose of optimizing mine operations.
He founded Geology & Mining Evaluation Consulting (G-MEC), a company providing services in strategic planning and economic evaluation to exploration companies and producing mines. In the case of exploration juniors, G-MEC introduces mining considerations early in the life of the project in order to focus the targeting as well as defining the steps to take to define the resources and reserves. In producing mines, G-MEC works closely with the exploration team to identify the targets along with defining the steps and milestones to ensure that the reserves will be replaced in time to keep producing beyond the current mine plan.
George was formerly the Superintendent of Mining Engineering at Barrick’s El Indio mine in Chile, developing the operations’ long-term vision in close cooperation with the Exploration and Mineral Processing departments to assure the survival of the mine during times of depressed gold and copper prices in the late 1990’s, while simultaneously working on the preparation of the mine closure plan.
He is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Mining Engineering at Queen’s University, and he teaches graduate courses and professional development seminars to mining industry professionals on two continents.
George is an avid golfer, but he realizes that he will unfortunately never be any good at it.
